Tarot Meets Astro — Taurus Season

a collaboration ~ Carolyn Zoppi, Tarot & Betsy Bell Osterholm, Evolutionary Astrology

there are moments when something within us shifts and we can feel it before we fully understand it.

tarot meets us there, offering reflection, symbolism and a way to connect with what is present beneath the surface.

astrology expands the view, revealing the deeper timing and evolutionary cycles guiding that experience.

together, they bridge intuition and understanding.

in this taurus season, we bring these two lenses together to explore themes of grounding, self-worth and sustainable growth so you can not only feel what is unfolding, but understand why it matters.

as we enter may, the energy shifts in a way you can feel in your body before you even name it. there's a slowing, a softening and a return to what is tangible and real. this is the essence of taurus season and no archetype captures it more fully than the Queen of Pentacles.

she doesn't rush. she doesn't force. she enjoys the fruits of her labor.

the Queen of Pentacles is deeply rooted in the physical world, often acting as an "earth mother" figure. she is an embodiment of earth energy - nurturing, steady, abundant and wise. she reminds us that true security isn't something we chase; it's something we build, tend to like a garden and allow ourselves to receive.

during taurus season, we are invited into her world.

this is a time to come back to your body. to your home. to your resources. to what sustains you , not just financially, but emotionally and physically. taurus energy asks: what supports your nervous system? where is the beauty that is all around me?

she teaches us that abundance grows where there is consistency. that self care is not indulgent. that tending to your life in small, intentional ways creates a ripple effect of stability and regulation.

you may notice this month a pull toward:

  • slowing down your pace and becoming more intentional with your time

  • re-evaluating finances, work-life balance, or long-term security

  • craving comfort, beauty, and sensory experiences (food, nature, touch, rest)

  • a desire to nurture - your home, your family, yourself

taurus season can also bring up where you feel lack. where you are overgiving, under-receiving, or disconnected from your own worth. the Queen of Pentacles doesn't abandon herself to care for others. she includes herself in the equation. she receives as deeply as she gives.

ask yourself this may:

  • where can i create more stability in my life?

  • what does "enough" actually feel like in my body?

  • how can i nurture myself the way i nurture others?

  • what am i ready to grow - patiently, steadily and with intention?

the Queen of Pentacles reminds us that the most powerful transformations aren't always loud. they happen quietly in the routines we commit to, the boundaries we hold and the care we allow ourselves to receive.

if you're feeling called to work more deeply with this energy, try grounding practices like spending time in nature (barefoot!), cooking nourishing meals, or creating small daily rituals that bring you back to yourself. the magic of taurus season isn't in doing more, it's in fully inhabiting what already is.

Taurus Season Astrological Insight: Redefining Stability

Betsy Bell Osterholm, Soul Path Astrologer

the Queen of Pentacles reflects what many of us may already be feeling but from an astrological perspective, it also speaks to a deeper shift unfolding beneath the surface of ourselves and our lives.

this season isn’t just inviting us to slow down, it’s asking us to redefine what stability, value, and security actually mean.

from an evolutionary astrology perspective, taurus season marks a stage in the soul’s journey where growth is no longer driven by initiation and action (aries season), but by integration.  this is where the work becomes more internal.

after periods of movement or change, the soul reaches a point where it must ask:

what is actually sustainable? what is worth continuing and what is not?

this is not always a comfortable process.  because what we often call “stability” and "security" can be rooted in habit, conditioning or patterns that once provided safety but no longer reflect who we are becoming.

at the center of taurus is venus, which, in evolutionary astrology, speaks not only to love or beauty but to the deeper question of value and self worth.

not just: what do I have?  but ... what do I believe I am worthy of receiving?

on may 1, 2026 the scorpio full moon illuminates deep emotional attachments and survival-based patterns, especially those tied to control, fear of loss or over-investment in what feels familiar. these patterns are not random. they reflect ways the psyche has learned to create safety.

but scorpio does not simply reveal. it transforms. it calls for alchemy. for transmutation. for a deeper empowerment that allows us to release what is rooted in fear and reclaim what is rooted in truth.

through this process, we begin to embody the grounded, self-honoring presence of the Queen of Pentacles.

taurus season asks:

can stability be built from self-worth rather than self-protection?

as the month continues, the movement of mars from fiery aries into grounded taurus shifts how we take action. rather than reacting quickly, there is an invitation to act with intention to build slowly, consistently and in alignment with our self worth and what truly matters.

this is where the deeper evolutionary work of this season lives: not in creating more but in becoming more discerning. more aware of where energy is being invested. more honest about what is truly supportive, what our essential needs are and what is simply familiar.

the Queen of Pentacles reflects the outcome of our process of discernment.  not as an ideal to strive for but as a state that naturally emerges when:

  • self-worth replaces self-sacrifice

  • consistency replaces urgency

  • and stability is built from soul alignment and truth, rather than control and insecurity

this is how the soul begins to create something lasting...
